They are peacemakers with which we are familiar, but we encourage your suggestions of others--from all walks of life. In making your suggestions, we will greatly appreciate any direct contacts that you may have with them in support of the project. Take an exclusive first look at the conversations of the 24 Peaces project…
The '24 Peaces' project team has completed 14 of 24 conversations with peacemakers around the world. We are currently seeking the remaining 10. GENE is also seeking a place to paint the paintings. The scale of which is close to 9' tall (maybe even larger!).
Currently, we are seeking more support in way of funding, contacts with peacemakers and production in a number of areas. '24 Peaces, Inc.' is a registered 501c3 non-profit organization. We are all volunteers and receive no pay for what we are creating with this project. All proceeds from the project will be distributed back to the various 24 peacemakers organizations. If you can support, or know of a direct support contact who is willing to discuss supporting the '24 Peaces' project, please contact us.
Thank you all for your continued support. We are more than half complete because of your willingness to support this project.
You can help 24 Peaces reach its production goal to complete this amazing project.

What is '24 Peaces'?
24 Peaces is an artist's journey to inspire people to create peace through exploring its meaning with twenty-four peacemakers from around the world.
With the purpose of igniting our own individual ability to create peace, the artist GENE (Gene Jimenez) is conducting a series of twenty-four conversations with both preeminent peacemakers and a cross section of “every-day people” from diverse backgrounds and cultures. Through questions such as, “What is peace?” and “What does peace mean to you?” the artist seeks to reveal that the concept of peace can mean many different things and each of us has the capacity and responsibility to nurture and affect it. Additionally, GENE is creating twenty-four paintings based on the energy and content of these conversations. His unique energetic and vivid painting style intends to portray the creative possibilities for each person to use our world as a canvas to paint peace.

GENE's Blog #8: Hamburg

We just left Hamburg for an 8 hour drive to Munich. While in Hamburg, I got to talk with Dominic Barter from Brazil. He is revolutionizing the social community justice system with his teachable practice of "Restorative Circles". This process involves conflict resolution on a personal to global scale in a format the acknowledges the involved parties own humanity, while also allowing for neutrality so that both sides are justly heard and fairly treated. I believe this is not only long overdue, but has the potential to change the way the modern world resolves what are thought to be unsolvable issues. I am still trying to wrap my head around the enormity of its potential impact. Hear me now world, find Dominic Barter! He has a golden tool to build a better world, and he is more than delightful to have a great conversation with.
I look forward to speaking with him again as I feel that strongly about what he is up to. We were hosted by a couch surfing.com family who were absolutely wonderful. Thank you Robert and Svenjia, your hospitality was incredibly gracious and I feel lucky to have had the opportunity to have met you. Robert, good luck on your fascinating building projects. They are inspiring to witness the birth of a city. Cheers!
In Peace,
GENE

Israel Day 3 (Blog #6)
Written by GENE
Tuesday, 10 August 2010 07:07
Hello,
The internet here in Israel is kinda shaky today so I decided to write this one. That, and to cover all the energy I am experiencing in a one minute blog would be hard. The amount of extreme emotion I am experiencing is hard to describe. I have a new understanding of what 'taking nothing at face value' means.
Today, we were met by a taxi driver and one of the sons of a person who is also one of the 24 peacemakers for the project. He drove us to a couple olive groves so we could film without all the crowds. (You will have to see the film to understand why we were in olive groves). The more we talked with both the son and father who are Arabs (Bedouin), the more I realized what my nightly news and my government had related to me about these people (also unjustly grouped into a category we refer to as Palestinians), was more than inaccurate. I stated from day one that the '24 Peaces' project will have nothing to do with politics and that will not change. This has less to do with politics and more to do with fellow human respect. The Arabs constantly say, "God created everyone, and he gave us eyes to see beautiful faces", which basically means God created all people and all people should be recognized (or "seen", all you Avatar fans know what I am talking about here) under God. Needless to say, a class system has been set up here in Israel and the Bedouin Arabs really just want to be 'seen', acknowledged as contributing members of a society and earn a living for some self and fellow human respect. That seems to be the root of these peoples' anguish as well as several other groups who are here in Israel. There is several prominent religions, political groups and tribes here, all wanting some flavor of this very basic human principle: to be acknowledged as alive and human. And thus sets in the frustration, anger and conflict.
Add into that the rigor and ceremony of religion and I believe I have landed in the Garden of Eden, Purgatory and 1967. AND, there are people here that are just amazingly beautiful souls. There are some that are not as beautiful, and they all have there reasons that seems to come down to the same thing. As if to say,"This is my peace… I ask that you hear it and in hearing it, that you 'see' me."
Peace. GENE
